The Link first burst into the world in April 2001, although it didn't find its name until the second edition in August of that year. The previous twenty editions of The Link provide a fascinating history of life on the estate over the past five years: stories about arts and gardening programs; sports, exercise and cultural groups; activities for kids; community safety initiatives and resident profiles.

They record the comings and goings of estate workers such as Kellie Nagle (arrived July '01) and Aldo Malavisi (who moved on to the City of Yarra in November '04) as well as the openings of community places such as the Information Centre and the Youthspace.

The development of The Link has been managed by the Collingwood Neighbourhood House, working closely with other agencies and residents.

The newsletter has been funded variously by Adult Community Further Education (ACFE), Office of Housing, Neighbourhood Renewal and – for this issue – Yarranet. Annie Arnold was the original editor, followed by resident Barbie Clarke who spent a lot of her personal time bringing the content and images together.

Another resident, David Adams, produced an edition as part of the Collingwood Community Empowerment Project and is a long-serving member of the editorial committee. In July 2005 The Link got a new, graphic look when resident artist Samantha Jones took over design duties. All in all, The Link collection reflects the growing vibrancy of the Collingwood housing estate.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this evolution!
